Employment & Training

— Sioux Lookout Region

The Sioux Lookout Area Aboriginal Management Board (SLAAMB) was formed in 1991 to advance local control over employment and training. It is an agreement holder under the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP), in place from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2029, and also delivers funding through the Harvesters Support Grant, supporting community access to traditional harvesting and food-sharing. SLAAMB supports a range of employment and training priorities, including practical training opportunities in carpentry. The organization continues building capacity to expand access to skills development across the region.

ISETP Programs

Supports training and employment through six program areas: community projects, district-wide projects, individual training, youth projects, child care, and disability supports.

Harvester Support Grant Program

Provides funding for tools, supplies, and other costs related to hunting, fishing, and gathering. Supports local food-sharing and traditional harvesting activities.
