The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America represent carpenters and carpenter apprentices across Northwestern, Central and Southern Ontario. The U.B.C.J.A. is representative of all Provinces and Territories in Canada and the United States. The U.B.C.J.A. has a very good working relationship with Ellis Don, the General Contractor/ Project Manager of the new hospital site in Souix Lookout. Because of the nature of our business "representing Carpenters and Carpenter Apprentices" it is a natural extension to become involved and represent Carpenters that are also involved with S.L.A.A.M.B.

The U.B.C.J.A., Local 1669 and all Locals would like to see relationships develop well beyond the project in Souix Lookout. As long as there are Carpenters and Carpenter Apprentices who want representation while working in their trade, then we have common interests in helping people achieve an acceptable standard of living. What problems did we see or encounter? I can only say there are no problems only solutions, the relationships and friendships people develop through common goals is the reason we are brought together. A final thought...for all goals, we strive for excellence and promote an honest 8 hours work for an honest 8 hours pay!
