Utility Arborist/Electrical Forester

Duties

Utility Arborist also known as Electrical Foresters clear electrical lines and right of ways of trees and brush. They work consists of pruning, roping and rigging, chainsaw operation, tree identification and vegetation control. The work is performed from the ground, by climbing trees or from bucket trucks. The work is physically demanding and is performed in all kinds of weather.

Salary - Certified

$ 33.95 ( Starting Hourly Wage )

Salary - Apprentice

$ 19.40 ( Starting Training Wage )

Pay progression every six months for the first two years. Increases after two years are annual on anniversary dates.

Training Schedule

  • Orientation - 15 day Course
  • 3 Levels of Central Training (10 days per level )
  • 6000 Hours ( On the Job Training )

Training Centre

  • Smith Falls ( Near Ottawa )

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent,
  • Grade 12 Math & English,
  • Aptitude to satisfy all requirements of the position,
  • Capable of communicating effectively orally and written,
  • Physically capable of performing all duties of the position,
  • Ability to withstand heights,
  • Possess a valid Province of Ontario Driver's License.
