Mechanical Maintainer

Duties

Mechanical Maintainers play an essential role in equipment surveillance and maintenance program to ensure a safe and reliable plant operation. In new facilities, they commission plant equipment and systems. They also provide feedback to technical staff regarding the condition of the equipment through dismantling, inspection and reassembly. They carry out predictive maintenance, preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance to ensure reliable system operation and to ensure the equipment is in a god state of repair.

Salary - Certified

$ 38.70 ( Starting Hourly Wage )

Salary - Apprentice

$ 23.22 ( Starting Training Wage )

Pay progression every six months for the first two years. Increases after two years are annual on anniversary dates.

Training Schedule

  • Orientation - 10 days
  • 28 weeks of trade school and Hydro One Central Training over 4 years.
  • 8000 Hours ( On the Job Training )

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the successful completion of a community college program in a mechanical discipline,
  • Experience as an Industrial Mechanic, Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, Machinist, Mould Maker and Welder is an asset,
  • Aptitude to satisfy all requirements of the position,
  • Capable of communicating effectively orally and written.
