Duties
Control Technicians spend a large part of their day inspecting, maintaining and repairing instrumentation, electronics and electrical equipment as well as run diagnostic and maintenance routines. Some days will require several hours of paperwork which is repetitive but is essential to the success and safety of everyone. They must be able to work eight, ten or twelve hour shifts and be able to work at any hour of the day.
Salary - Certified
$ 43.42 ( Starting Hourly Wage )
Salary - Apprentice
$ 20.50 ( Starting Training Wage )
Pay progression every six months for the first two years. Increases after two years are annual on anniversary dates.
Training Schedule
- Orientation , safety , and science fundamentals training - 20 days,
- 8 weeks of basic training on electrical, electronics & instrumentation,
- 12 weeks of crew skills training in six, two intervals over 4 years.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus successful completion of a two year recognized community college program in electrical instrumentation & control or electronics, plus a minimum of three years of related experience, or completion of a C of Q as an Industrial Electrician, Construction & Maintenance Electrician or Instrumentation Technician,
- Applicant must pass a series of paper and pencil tests assessing areas such as reasoning, English skills, mechanical aptitude, and safety consciousness.
- Capable of communicating effectively orally and written,
- Pass a security check and medical.
