If you have worked for your community or any other employer either as a carpenter, electrician, or a plumber and you have worked more than 5 - 10 years (depending on trade), you may qualify for our C of Q Training & Tutoring Program. Commitment to stay and study in Sioux Lookout for 10 weeks (one week in Dryden) is required as candidates will receive safety certificate training (ie: Fall Arrest, First Aid, Hoisting & Rigging, etc.) and tutoring to challenge the provincial exam for the certificate of qualification in their chosen trade. We can help you with your travel, accommodations and a living expense of $ 240.00 per week. In addition, we can provide you with translation services so you can better understand the exam questions. Upon completion of this program, participants may seek employment with contractors who will be responsible for the construction of the Hospital and Hostel in Sioux Lookout or return to their home communities to act as journeymen and take on apprentices.
The next intake of the C of Q Training & Tutoring Program offered in partnership with Confederation College is scheduled to start February 16, 2009 (beginning with two weeks of e-learning).
