SLAAMB-Admin Avatar

The Sioux Lookout Area Aboriginal Management Board (SLAAMB) received recognition at the 22nd First Nations Housing Conference, held from February 4–6, 2025, at the Valhalla Hotel in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This annual event brought together delegates, speakers, and exhibitors to discuss challenges and share ideas for supporting and strengthening First Nations communities.

In 2024, SLAAMB completed a two-story residential unit to provide safe and comfortable accommodations for female trainees traveling to Sioux Lookout and Hudson for various training programs. Built by participants in SLAAMB’s Carpentry Program, the project offered hands-on construction experience that helped trainees progress toward their Red Seal certification. Beyond this, the unit now stands as a lasting resource, ensuring future program participants have the support they need.
